I love Molinari salami. It's reasonably priced and tastes great. Costco has it in regular and hot varieties.
Little did I know that Molinari has a deli in San Francisco's Little Italy. It has apparently been there for a long long time and has some very yummy things inside (obviously). Even better than the salami are the prices. In a city full of overpriced junk, the Molinari Deli stands as a big middle finger to McFood and McFood Concepts.
The place is very packed as the aisles are very narrow in addition to the floor space being very oddly shaped. Note the jawsome decor and how cheap the salami is. They are charging less than what most supermarkets charge, and the stuff at this place is much better than the crud your local store has stocked.
This was my actual Italian meat slicing dude. He was hilarious and clearly took pride in his work and his product. He asked me if I was going to use it in a sandwich and I replied that I was going to eat it straight. His reply was "Well if you put it in a sandwich, respect it with a good bread. This is San Francisco, you have no excuse to use bad bread with this salami."
The salami was out of this world. I would say it's a tossup between this place and Boccalone for best salted dried pork product in San Francisco. Here's a gratuitous shot of some of the hot toscano I got.
