Yes, this was a while ago (October 11) but I have been a lazy chomper and forgot to post the pictures. Besides, it seems a bunch of my readers really love Korean BBQ! The rest of you missed out! We had the party at Oz Korean BBQ in Sacramento.
Due to a mixup with the invites, most of the group showed up 1-2 hours early and had been starving ever since. In this picture, Jody's dad shows his wife exactly what is going to happen to the meat when it shows up. Her brother Peter has somehow defeated my camera's HW and SW red-eye reduction methods by glancing to the left.
This is Peter's stepson Jordan. He is enjoying his chopsticks very much.
I call this picture "The last (moment) before dinner". The waitstaff had very good timing. When this picture was taken pretty much the entire table was moaning about being hungry. About 10 seconds later the waiter wheels up with three huge platters of meat.
The hand with the huge class ring on it belongs to Jody's dad, Sam. Sam is the official family grillmaster. Here you can see Sam's tongs waiting to correct all of our heinous grill mistakes. Apparently dumping all of the meat buckshot style onto the grill doesn't work. Who knew?
The hugest present I got was from Jody's sister Christan. It was a giant basket of food she found at a local meditteranean store. Pure awesomeness. Especially the can of cheese. Note the disheveled state of my hair after 90 minutes of wolfing down dead animal.
In with the food were little rubber bouncy things. We weren't sure whether Christan had put these in here, or if her 3 year old son Andy put them in there for me. At his birthday party, Andy kleptoed all of the bouncies from everyone's goodie bags and hoarded them. Maybe this was why.
As with many Asian restaurants in the area, there's a birthday wheel. I won a $10 gift certificate... which I got AFTER I paid the dinner bill!
